ANIMAL HUSBANDRY
Departmental Activities:
- Departmental activities includes Core Indicators and Functional Indicators.
- Core Indicators are growth engines for State GSDP. Core Indicators in livestock sector includes Milk, Meat and Egg Productions.
- Functional Indicators include Curative treatment, Preventive treatment, Vaccination, Artificial Insemination and Calves borne.
Brief notes on State Government Schemes implemented:
- Y S R Livestock Loss Compensation Scheme:- Government of Andhra Pradesh has implemented “YSR Pasu nashta Parihara Padhakam” inorder to provide compensation towards any Livestock loss.
Age:- Cows of age group 2-10 years and She Buffaloes of age group 3-12 years are covered under this scheme. Similarly Sheep & Goat with age of 6 months and above are covered under this scheme.
Compensation Payable:- Rs.30,000/- will be paid in case of improved/indigenous Cows/ Indigenous She Buffaloes. Whereas Rs.15,000/- will be paid for Non Descriptive Cows/ Non Descriptive She Buffaloes. Rs.6,000/- will be paid in case of Sheep / Goat.
Eligibility for Claims:-Every death upto 5 animals per family per annum in case of Large animals and upto 20 animals per family per annum in case of small ruminants can be compensated. Death of 3 and above Sheep/Goat owned by single farmers at a time on each occasion can only be compensated.
Claims in case of situations like accidents, diseases and circumstances not covered under SDRF / NDRF.
Claims in case of situations like Malicious or will full act of owners, circumstances covered under SDRF /NDRF and already insured animals cannot be compensated.
- Y S R Cheyutha
Jagnannanna Paala Velluva: The Government of Andhra Pradesh determined to uplift the financial status of the women farmers of BC, SC, ST & Minority communities of 45-56 years age by encouraging livelihood activities like procurement of Milch animals / Sheep / Goat units under YSR Cheyutha scheme.
Under Jagananna Paala Velluva program Milch animals are grounded and supplied to SHG women in convergence with DRDA department.
Jagannanna Jeeva Kranthi:
The Government of Andhra Pradesh determined to uplift the financial status of the women farmers of BC, SC, ST & Minority communities of 45-56 years age by encouraging livelihood activities like procurement of Sheep / Goat units under YSR Cheyutha scheme.
Under Jagananna Jeeva Kranthi program Sheep / Goat units are grounded and supplied to SHG women in convergence with DRDA department
- Community Hiring Centres (CHC)
Establishment of Community Hiring Centres in the District under Agriculture infrastructure fund with interest subvention.
Primary objective is to make available of various farm machinery / equipment to small and marginal farmers.
To provide hiring services for various implements applied for different operations in livestock farms.
Formation of Joint Liability Group to take decision collectively.
Identification of Community Hiring Centre at Kattamuru of Peddapuram mandal.
Paddy Straw Square baler machinery has been procured by Joint Liability Group of Kattamuru village of Peddapuram mandal, which has been linked with Rythu Bharosa Kendram of Kattamuru village.
Total Scheme cost is Rs.14.70 lakhs. Among which beneficiary contribution is Rs.1.47 Lakhs, Subsidy portion is Rs.5.88 lakhs and loan component is Rs.7.35 lakhs.
- Local Breed Cow Farms:
- Promotion of Organic A2 Milk production through indigenous cow farming.
- Formation of Joint Liability Group to take decision collectively.
- Approved by District Level monitoring committee under the Chairmanship of District Collector.
- Total scheme cost is Rs.30.00 lakhs. Among which beneficiary contribution is Rs.6.00 lakhs. Subsidy portion is Rs.15.00 lakhs and Loan component is Rs.9.00 lakhs.
- Animals cost is Rs.18.90 Lakhs, Shed cost is Rs.8.50 lakhs, equipment cost is Rs.2.10 lakhs, Maintenance cost is Rs.50,000
- Identification of farmers showing interest in rearing of Desi cows. 1.Lingamparthi of Yeleswaram mandal, 2.Rowthulapudi village of Rowthulapudi mandal.
- Procurement of equipments by concerned Joint Liability Group of respective mandals has been completed. Cattle shed constructions has been completed. Animal Procurement has been completed by all Joint Liability Groups.
- Raising of Perennial Fodder – MGNREGS:-
Raising of Perennial fodder (Hybrid napier varieties) in convergence with Panchayat raj and Rural Development Department through mandal level computer centres.
- Rythu Bharosa Kendralu:-
Government of Andhra Pradesh has recruited Animal Husbandry Assistants as departmental functionaries to discharge role at respective Rythu Bharosa Kendralu. As a part of their roles and responsibilities Animal Husbandry Assistants are entrusted the work of booking of Inputs like Total Mixed Ration (TMR), Chaff Cutter, Mineral Mixture, Fodder Seed etc.
