BC WELFARE

Departmental Activities:

The Deputy Director / District BC Welfare Officer, Kakinada District, Kakinada is in charge of the following Schemes. All Schemes relates to mostly educational field to improve the level of education among the poor Back ward Classes, Kapu & EBC People.

  1. Maintenance of BC Hostels.
  1. Jagananna Vasati & Vidya Deevena to BC, Kapu & EBC Students.
  2. Registration of BC – Societies.

 

Brief notes on State Govt. schemes implemented:

Maintenance of Hostels: There are 23 Pre-matric Hostels and 16 Post-matric Hostels functioning in the District. The caste ratio in which the seats in a Hostel are filled is as follows: BCs – 76%, SCs – 10%, STs – 5%, Minorities – 3%, Others – 6%.

           4 pairs of Uniform, one set of bedding material, Plate and Glass, Trunk Box, Note Books, Nationalized Text Books, Study material, Cosmetic charges etc., are being provided.

Jagananna Vasati & Vidya Deevena to BC, Kapu & EBC Students:

The Hon’ble ChiefMinister has made an assurance under “Navaratnalu” and accordingly, the government have formulated the following two new schemes and issued guidelines vide G.O.Ms.No.115 SW (EDN) Department, dt.30-11-2019 for implementation of new schemes, namely,“Jagananna Vidya Deevena (RTF)& Jagananna Vasathi Deevena (MTF)” from the year 2019-20.

Jagananna Vidya Deevena(RTF):

Complete fee reimbursement to all eligible students in 4 spells quarter wise. This amount will be credited to Mother’s bank account. Mothers in turn will pay this amount to the College within 7 to10days.

 

Jagananna Vasathi Deevena (MTF):

To provide Rs.10,000/- per person to ITI students, Rs.15,000/- per person to Polytechnic students, Rs.20,000/-per person for other Degree and above courses per year to every eligible student towards food and hostel expenses. This amount will be paid in 2 spells. This amount will be credited to the Mothers bank account. Under these schemes, all eligible students belonging to BC/EBC/KAPU categories studying ITI, Polytechnic, Degree and Above level courses. (all post matric courses except intermediate) are entitled.

Eligible students:

  • All the students pursuing ITI, Polytechnic, Degree and above level courses studying in Government/ University/ Aided/ Private Colleges affiliated to State Universities/ Boards.
  • Day-scholars students, students in College Attached Hostel (CAH) and Department Attached Hostel (DAH).
  • 5% of the aggregate attendance is mandatory for release of scholarships.

Income Eligibility:

  1. The total family annual income should be less than or equal to Rs.2.50 lakhs.
  2. The total land holding of family to be less than10.00 acres of wet or 25.00 acres of dry or25.00 acres both wetland dry land together.
  3. No member of the family should be a government employee/ pensioner (all sanitary workers irrespective of their salary/recruitment are eligible.
  4. No      member    of    the    family    should   own    a    four-wheeler (Taxies/ Tractors/ Autos are exempted).
  5. A family who owns no property or less than 1500sft of built up area (Residential or Commercial) in Urban Areas is eligible.
  6. No member of the family should be an income tax payee.

III) Registration of BC Cooperative Societies.

The Government have delegated powers to BC Welfare Department for registration of Cooperative Societies belong to Backward Classes of NayeeBrhmin, Washermen, Uppara, Krishna Balija, Viswabrahmin, Kummara / Salivahana, Noorbasha/Dudekula, Boya, Vaddera, Medara. Further, District Welfare Committees in respect of Nayee Brahmin, KummariSalivahana&Vadeera communities shall be formed at District Level.
