Pithapuram is one of the oldest piligrimage destinations in East Godavari district, 20 kilometres from Kakinada. It is famous for its many temples, some of them being Sri Puruhootika Devi, Sri Kukkuteshwara Swamy, Sri Dattatreya Swamy, and Pada Gaya. The Puruhootika Devi Temple is a popular peetham because of the common belief that Goddess Sati’s left handfell here. Lord Kukuteswara Swamy Temple is swayambhu (self-forming) with the Spatika Lingam. Here you will also see Yaka Sila Nandi, a majestic idol of the Nandi (bull) carved out of a single stone in front of the temple. Pithapuram is one of the five Madhava Kshetram and one of the Ashta dasha (18) Shakti Peethas in the area. |

Annavaram literally translated as “God’s boon” is a major pilgrimage and heritage centre. Located on Ratnagiri Hills, the shrine to Lord Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy is its most distinctive feature. According to legends, the land belongs to Goddess Anantalaxmi Satyavathi Ammavaru and Lord Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy. |

Uppada UPPADA SAREES |
Uppada is famous for its Jandhani sarees and silk sarees. Here the weavers themselves are weaving these saris on the looms. People from all over the country come here to buy these sarees. These dresses are also used extensively for weddings and other occasions. Nowadays, even foreigners who follow Indian dress are flocking here to buy these sarees. |

Sarpavaram Temple |
The temple was built during the reign of the Chalukyas and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The Sarpavaram Temple is a reflection of synthesis of art – with perfect geometric shapes and many variations of perfect symmetry. The architecture includes an inner sanctum, a main chamber where the deity is placed, and multiple tower-like structures which encompass the temple. There is also a congregation hall. There are multiple images of the divine, both feminine and masculine, which aim to symbolically recreate the cosmic elements and is a celebration of the Hindu way of life. |

PANDAVULA METTA IN PEDDAPURAM |
The height of Pandavula Metta is about 200 feet. Legend has it that the Pandavas lived here during the exile. Here we can see the foothills of Bhima and the caves set up by the Pandavas for cooking.
